1 Hour Collages Dec 23, 2008 8:53:22 PM 0 comments I'm going to try to do one a day to keep my brain from getting too stupid from all the reality tv I watch. At least until school starts up again. Here is today's. ![]() Wooo I'm alive Dec 22, 2008 1:05:35 PM 0 comments So finals were over about a week and a half ago and I must say, I did a lot better than I thought I would. I can't believe the first semester is over! Just two more years!! Immediately after finals we moved to a two bedroom triplex in NE Minneapolis and we've been settling in slowly. Finally almost all the boxes have been unpacked minus a couple. What never ceases to amaze me is the amount of crap we accumulate every year. Here are some photos of our new place: I'm not going home for the holidays so I'm going to lounge around and eat hot dogs and watch terrible movies. Speaking of, I just watched Wanted and it was AWFUL. How is it that James McAvoy's character sounds like it was written for Shia LeBeouf. I'm still working at Rodeo Drive consignment store, which is hilarious and I got an internship with a graphic design studio about a mile away so hopefully I'll make up for lost time. 18 year olds can suck it! Intervention Nov 26, 2008 10:36:45 PM 1 comments Man oh man it's going to be a busy month ahead. Finals are coming up in three weeks and I've already finished one final, thank Jesus. My final for Media 1 was to have a multi-page website and you guys can check it out here. My other finals shouldn't be too bad, I think my drawing final might be the most difficult one. One of my projects is to respond to emails received only with handwritten letters and phone calls and that has been a really frustrating exercise since I put stuff up to sell on craigslist and I haven't really been able to respond to those w/o phone numbers. Email me a letter and I'll respond with a letter or a phone call! We're also moving December 15 to a really cute two bedroom duplex in NE Minneapolis, which I like to explain to everyone as the Echo Park of Minneapolis--except with Swedish and Russian immigrants and no stabbings. So far we've been so lucky with apartments here. The one we're moving into has two bedrooms, a sun room, a dining room, a living room, and a kitchen. All this for cheaper rent than a 1 Bedroom in Los Angeles. No wonder people stay in MN despite the bitter bitter cold. The person who lives upstairs has a German Shepherd! Finally Penny will have someone to play with! I'm also excited because we're close to a bunch of art galleries and bars, by a bunch I really mean three because in Minnesota when ppl say "oh that area is really cute. " what they really mean is "there's a congregation of two or three restaurants or points of interest on that block." I saw Twilight last Saturday and although it was completely awful, I'm not going to lie, I youtube Robert Pattinson everyday. It's escapism at its best. Besides, he FINE. Oh and I emailed my resume out for an internship just as a sort of whim/I don't have anything to lose and I scored an interview on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll get this internship, but if not at least I tried. Big Shit Poppin' y'all!! Upgrade U Nov 22, 2008 2:19:56 PM 3 comments This past week has been pretty stressful because we've been trying to find a new apartment. And THANK JESUS we found an adorable apartment in a triplex today in a great area. One less thing to worry about. Now all I have to worry about is finals! Nothing else really exciting to say. Blurghalj Nov 15, 2008 11:31:59 PM 1 comments I can't believe I'm still up. I've been working on writing this four page art history paper and I can't believe that it's taken me this long. I feel like my brain just stopped working after I graduated from UCLA in regards to paper writing. I used to be able to write ten page sociology papers with fervor! Damn! Those were the good old days. Anyway, my birthday passed and since I've been telling everyone that I was 25 since I started school in August it was pretty anticlimactic. Despite my advanced age, most of my classmates don't realize how old I was so I'll take that for what it's worth. Also I watch High School Musicals, read Twilight and am currently listening to David Archuleta so my bad taste might as well just be attributed to my inner tween. That's probably what keeps me young, bad taste. A week ago I bought www.annieyilingwang.com because I thought, "hey why not, i'm going to have to promote myself professionally soon enough." I also had a coupon so the domain only cost $6. Right now there's nothing there except a sneak preview of a full website. My project for Media 1 is to create a functioning multi-page site so I'm killing two birds with one stone here. I'm going to sleep, my old weary bones can't pull all nighters . Small Nov 12, 2008 6:57:19 PM 0 comments I think my biggest triumphs today were to run for 20 minutes and eat one slice of spicy Italian pizza from Papa John instead of three. Sad/funny. Tomorrow I register for next semester's classes! Classes: Media 2, Intro to Graphic Design, Intro to Typography, Drawing 2, Sophmore Seminar, Ideation and Process WOOO!!! I'm going to be exhausted! Birthday Wishes Nov 3, 2008 3:07:08 PM 0 comments This is what I want: ![]() ![]() Pika My face Nov 1, 2008 10:17:00 PM 1 comments Soo I went to the dentist today for the tooth ache that's been bothering me and unfortunately my dentist isn't sure which nerve is causing the pain. So he's giving my x-rays to a specialist to determine which nerve it is so I can get a root canal. AWESOME!!!!!! For now I was given a prescription to vicodin, which my body has readily rejected by making me nauseous, bloody nosed and generally all around gross. This is the worst birthday week ever. Suck on this Purrniture Oct 31, 2008 6:08:02 AM 1 comments My finished cat cocoon for 3D. Blood, sweat, tears, broken skin, sawdust boogers all for my cats. ![]() ![]() ![]() Inspiration Oct 30, 2008 6:58:25 PM 0 comments Here's an inspiration board that I made for my Prints and Patterns class. ![]() I think my jaw is going to fall off. Mouth ulcer or wisdom teeth coming in. Whooo knows. I showed my color wheel to my 2D teacher and she's like uhhh try again. I never realized how difficult color wheels were. This shit is difficult!!! SARS Oct 30, 2008 6:18:09 AM 2 comments Ugh, I've been sick for the past week. Yesterday I slept for 13 hours and I still feel like crap this morning. I have this gross sore in the back of my mouth that I'm starting to believe is cancer. . I really have nothing to blog about other than school. My birthday is next Friday. Wooo, the big 25! I think I will spend it watching High School Musical 3. If only Twilight was released earlier. I'm going to attempt to make a color wheel now. Blargh. Busy Busy Oct 15, 2008 7:12:54 PM 0 comments I think I spend around 50 hours a week doing work, at least. =\ How the hell do these freshman finish their homework in addition to making friends and doing young freshman stuff? I've been sick the past week and a half but does that stop me from building a wood sculpture with my bare hands?! NO. HELL NO. Technically I haven't started yet, but I will and it will be painful. But I will think of Ryan Gosling in The Notebook and all will be better. The past few days I've been working on my project for Media 1, the bane of my existence. You can check out the work I've done for that class so far here. Little Red Riding Hood Oct 8, 2008 11:53:55 PM 3 comments I don't think I have a life outside of school, my pets, and the few friends I have in Minneapolis. It's been a little difficult trying to make close friends at school since I don't live on campus (thank god) and the fact that most of them were born in the '90s, which freaks me out. I'm sure this is what people born in the 70's must think of us 80's children. Hopefully I'll find someone who enjoys creepy jokes and cats as much as I do. But for now, here's more work that I'm doing. This is for my 2D project about textures, it's the story of Little Red Riding Hood. ![]() Prints & Patterns Sep 29, 2008 7:15:31 PM 2 comments I am starting to love my prints and patterns continuing studies class. It's a lot of fun and everyone is my own age! Hooray! This is what I'm working on right now... ![]() My bare hands Sep 25, 2008 10:06:51 PM 3 comments I WELDED THIS WITH MY BARE HANDS!!! I BENT THE METAL WITH MY SHEER MIGHT AND STRENGTH. Well not the big piece of metal, but the little strands of metal I actually did bend with my sheer strength. ![]() Mashed Potatoes Sep 23, 2008 7:52:35 PM 1 comments I ate a bowl of mashed potatoes for dinner and it was so satisfying. I practically ran out of class and made a beeline to the cafeteria and bought a vat and ate it on the way to the parking lot because I'm a beast. Lately I've been honestly thinking about getting an MFA in graphic design because I'd love to be a teacher, college level though. Nothing younger, I'd kill myself if I'd have to teach high school. Photos and such Sep 20, 2008 8:54:24 AM 0 comments I hate waiting around. I dropped Penny off at the vet this morning to get an urinalysis, she might have a UTI. Poor puppy! She's been peeing all over the place after her spay. So I'm basically waiting for the vet to give me a call so I can bring her back home to lots of fakin' bacon and belly rubs. I spent the majority of yesterday welding for my 3D class. I can't wait to finish my steel sculpture so I can look back and laugh real hard at it. After I get graded, I'm going to give it to my friend Jaymi so she can ward off the bunnies in her backyard. Here are some photos that I took for my Media 1 project. Media 1 is probably my least favorite class, but I'd still go to it any day over a boring old lecture. ![]() ![]() ![]() YAY!! Sep 17, 2008 7:25:59 AM 1 comments I turned in my first big project yesterday and it was well received. I always end up being in the last batch of crits so everyone's really tired so not too much is being said. I am hoping that everyone will start growing balls (myself included) and start actually constructively critiquing works instead of just reiterating what's nice about them. Here are some of of the patterns I've made for the project. ![]() It's getting cold Sep 15, 2008 7:59:20 PM 0 comments I can't believe it's September and it's already starting to get cold. Damn Minnesota!! Monday's are my least favorite days because I have two of my least favorite classes. We spent forever in a crit today and the last five people (me included) got jipped out of a crit because our teacher practically walked out--NOT COOL. All my other teachers are awesome though. Comment card anyone? I need to file a complaint. I have 12 pieces due tomorrow. Sooo I'm kind of dying. Overwhelmed Sep 9, 2008 7:08:58 PM 0 comments Man, I have so much homework. It's kind of refreshing to be challenged again and in ways that don't involve writing! People seriously don't give art school enough credit, this shit is fucking hard. It's not just crafts and line drawings, there's concept! So much concept! And critical thinking, especially about one's own significance and talent. Just in the past week I've learned about so many artists whose work I've come to appreciate and most significantly understand. Here's the final horse for my 3D class: ![]() ![]() |
